Cengage Learning Announces Winners of the 2012 Economist Educators Best in Class Teaching Awards

Recipients Recognized for Outstanding Commitment to Economics Education

Stamford, CT, October 25, 2012— Cengage Learning, a leading educational content, software and services company, today announced three outstanding Economist Educators who received awards in Cengage Learning's first annual Economist Educators Best in Class Teaching Award. The awards are meant to recognize and reward innovation and notable ideas for teaching economics.

Instructors submitted their best ideas for teaching and peers voted on their favorites. A panel of Economist Educators reviewed the submissions and rated those receiving the most votes. This year, three winners were selected:

First Place – Alan Grant, Baker University Entry: Using Game Theory & Collective Action Experiments to Teach the Economics of Social Issues Prize: $2,000 prize, $2,000 to his department and a trip to the 8th Annual Economics Teaching Conference to present his submission

Second Place – Fadhel Kaboub, Denison University Entry: Denison Volunteer Dollars: The Currency of Civic Engagement Prize: $1,000 and a trip to the 8th Annual Economics Teaching Conference to present his submission

Third Place – Becca Arnold, San Diego Mesa College Entry: Visualizing The Economy Using Interactive Maps Prize: $500 and a copy of the International Handbook for Teaching and Learning Economics by KimMarie McGoldrick and Gail Hoyt
