BOULDER, Colorado (VN) — Ben Berden (Raleigh-Clement) sprinted to victory on Saturday in the Colorado Cross Classic.
The UCI C2 event took place on a 3.5km circuit along the sandy shores of the Boulder Reservoir.
With four laps to go Ryan Trebon (Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com) was off the front with 10 seconds’ advantage. Jamey Driscoll (Jamis-Sutter Home) was in pursuit, with Berden moving up from behind.
First Driscoll caught Trebon, then Berden latched on, and the three were battling for the win.
But Trebon bobbled on the final go-round and the other two got away from him. And in the finale, Berden out-kicked Driscoll for the win. Trebon recovered to take third.
Editor’s note: Stay tuned for more from Boulder.
